INDEX TO AVAILABLE VASCULAR
PLANT (F-Z), LICHEN, AND FUNGUS IMAGES
Recently added taxa or images are marked
.
In-house images are available in both larger higher-resolution (slower) and smaller lower-resolution (faster) versions.
Very-high resolution (publication-quality) versions of some images can be made available
on request. We also provide links to images of species of interest on other web sites as they come to our attention. Such images
are labeled OFF-SITE, and any copyright protections asserted on their host web sites must be respected. Links to other web sites of general interest for their image collections are provided at the bottom of this page. All in-house images, hosted by the Nevada Natural Heritage Program (NNHP) web site, are placed in the public domain for non-commercial use only. The photographers and/or
their organizations retain all other copyrights, and use of these images for any other purpose is unlawful. We are grateful to the photographers who have contributed images to this page, and we request that use of these images always be accompanied by proper credits to the photographer,
their organization, and this web site. New contributions of good-quality, sharp images of Nevada rare species are always welcomed and credited whenever used. Uncompressed (100%-quality) digital images
at least 500 x 750 pixels in size are most readily added, and prints or slides are also welcome - contact the Web Page Coordinator for more information.
NOTE: non-vascular plants,
vascular plants A-E, and the index to animal and other images
are now maintained on separate pages to reduce download times.

Tholurna dissimilis (urn lichen)
close-up (89 kB) by Eric Peterson, NNHP (The photo includes a sewing pin for scale. This species occurs mainly on branches of subalpine conifers with a krummholz growth form. It is known from the Washington and Oregon Cascade Mountains. It likely occurs in the Sierra Nevada as well. Many of the known locations are from trees that birds frequently perch on, suggesting that this lichen favors high nitrogen environments. The most likely locations in Nevada are near the top of Mt. Rose or near the Mt. Rose ski area where birds may concentrate to look for food from skiers. If you think you may have found this species, please
