Nevada Natural Heritage Program Richard H. Bryan Building 901 South Stewart Street, suite 5002 Carson City, Nevada 89701-5245, U.S.A. tel: (775) 684-2900 fax: (775) 684-2909 Our mission is to help coordinate the resource needs of Nevada's diverse biological heritage with human activities. We do this by maintaining an inventory and current databases on the locations, biology, conservation, and management status of all threatened, endangered, sensitive, and at-risk species and biological communities, and of noxious weed infestations, in the state. We use the best available biological data to continually evaluate conservation priorities for over 700 kinds of native animals, plants, vegetation types, and their habitats - those at greatest risk of extinction or serious decline. In partnership with the Nevada Department of Agriculture we also maintain the Nevada State Weed Map. We supply information and technical services to meet diverse conservation, planning, development, land management, and research needs. The Program provides the citizens of Nevada with a cost-effective "early warning system," designed to minimize future resource conflicts, and to help prevent species from becoming threatened or endangered. We encourage proactive conservation measures now, before more costly and burdensome actions become necessary. The Nevada Natural Heritage Program is a contributing member of NatureServe, a network connecting science with conservation, consisting of natural heritage programs and conservation data centers found across the United States, Canada, and Latin America. We are also part of the National Biological Information Infrastructure. The Nevada Natural Heritage Program: providing biological information for balanced land-use decisions, charting Nevada's biological health since 1986.
