Nevada Natural Heritage Program
NEVADA AT-RISK ANIMAL TRACKING LIST
As of the date above, this list directs the animal data acquisition priorities of the Nevada Natural Heritage Program (NNHP), and provides current status information for 286 animal taxa that appear, based on the best available scientific information, to be at risk of extinction or serious decline. Taxa considered at-risk and actively inventoried by NNHP typically include those with federal or other Nevada agency status of Endangered, Threatened, or Sensitive, and those with Global ranks (Grank 1-3) or declining trends indicating some level of range-wide imperilment. In general, an at-risk species is any taxon whose long-term viability has been identified as a concern. Not included on this list are extinct or extirpated taxa, which are maintained on a separate list, and which would be added to the at-risk or watch lists if they were ever re-discovered in Nevada. A separate Watch List includes taxa that could become at-risk in the future, or that recently have been removed from the at-risk tracking list. NNHP passively accumulates data for Watch List taxa.

Older editions of this list remain available on-line. The parallel Detailed Rare Animal List may be more up-to-date, and provides additional information on family names, observation history, habitat, range, trends, and land management for all At-risk and watch-list animals. Further information may be available on-line for some taxa in other lists or reports, or as maps or images, and general information is available for nearly all taxa on the NatureServe Explorer web site.
With few exceptions, we attempt to maintain current data on all at-risk taxa in Nevada. Complete data on raptors are maintained by the Nevada Division of Wildlife, and on the desert tortoise by the Las Vegas office of the Bureau of Land Management. Information on at-risk invertebrates continues to grow more rapidly than most vertebrate groups, and many invertebrates likely remain to be added to this list. Comments, suggestions, and supporting documentation for additions, deletions, or changes to this list are always welcome and encouraged, as is documentation of new or revised location data for any at-risk or watch-list taxa.
Changes to this list occur daily as new information is received or processed. While we intend to update this on-line list frequently, please contact our Data Manager if you require the most current information on any at-risk taxon. This on-line list may need to be scrolled to the right for complete viewing, and may be printed from your browser on letter-size paper in landscape format with 0.25-inch side margins.
