PLANT AND ANIMAL WATCH LIST
As of the date above, this Watch list includes 151 taxa that may qualify as sensitive animals or plants in the future, or that recently have been removed from the sensitive lists. Not included on this list are extinct or extirpated taxa, which are maintained on a separate list, and which would be added to the sensitive or watch lists if they were ever re-discovered in Nevada. Watch list taxa are usually not actively inventoried by the Nevada Natural Heritage Program, although conservation concern remains and data are passively accumulated and sometimes processed for possible future needs. Comments, suggestions, and supporting documentation for additions, deletions, or changes to this list are always welcome and encouraged, as is documentation of new or revised location data for any sensitive or watch-list taxa.
Older editions of this list remain available on-line. The parallel Detailed Rare Plant and Lichen List and Detailed Rare Animal List provide additional information on family names, observation history, habitat, range, trends, and land management for all sensitive and watch-list taxa. Further information may be available on-line for some taxa in other lists or reports, or as maps or images. The Nevada Rare Plant Atlas provides more comprehensive information, including habitat, life-history, description, threats, survey status, literature sources, and known locations, for many plant taxa. General information is available for nearly all taxa on the NatureServe Explorer web site.
Changes to this list occur daily as new information is received or processed. While we intend to update this on-line list frequently, please contact our Data Manager if you require the most current information on any watch list taxon.
