NEVADA PLANT AND LICHEN TAXA OF HIGH PRIORITY FOR DATA DEVELOPMENT

(14 May 2003)

The plant and lichen taxa listed below reflect the highest priorities of the Nevada Natural Heritage Program for gathering existing data, and/or for developing new data through field surveys. Most are taxa that have recently been described and/or added to our At-risk or Watch lists, and/or for which current data are very limited and need to be developed before conservation needs and priorities can be further assessed. Many of the more numerous taxa for which our data are relatively complete and current are found in our list of plant species status reports and surveys available or in preparation.

Taxa targeted for field surveys are listed in priority order and, whenever possible, are grouped with additional target and non-target taxa with similar ranges and/or habitats. Field survey projects should include as many of the other grouped taxa as resources permit. As herbarium specimen data searches are conducted, as many as possible of the other taxa targeted for herbarium searches in this list should be addressed during each visit, with emphasis on the highest-priority taxa and on those taxa in which a given herbarium specializes. Herbarium survey targets are listed alphabetically within priority groups. Those taxa for which a full status review is currently appropriate are listed at the end.

(f) = field survey target
(h) = herbarium survey target
(o) = other taxa of concern associated with field survey targets
(s) = full status review target
