NEVADA LAWS AND REGULATIONS

The links below provide access to the text of all Nevada laws and regulations, and to selected chapters with special relevance to activities of the Nevada Natural Heritage Program.

Nevada Revised Statutes chapter 232, State Departments. NRS 232.090 paragraph 2 establishes the Nevada Natural Heritage Program within the Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

Nevada Revised Statutes chapter 235, State Emblems; Gifts and Endowments. NRS 235.020-.120 establishes various official state emblems, including the state trees, flower, grass, bird, reptile, animal, fish, and fossil.

Nevada Revised Statutes chapter 501, Wildlife Administration and Enforcement. NRS 501.110 defines the various categories of wildlife in Nevada, including protected categories.

Nevada Administrative Code chapter 503, Hunting, Fishing and Trapping; Miscellaneous Protective Measures. NAC 503.010-503.080, 503.110, and 503.140 list the wildlife species currently placed in the state's various legal categories, including protected species, game species, and pest species.

Nevada Revised Statutes chapter 527, Protection and Preservation of Timbered Lands, Trees and Flora. Includes various laws administered by the Nevada Division of Forestry, including NRS 527.060-527.110 which regulate the commercial harvest of cacti, yuccas, and evergreen trees, and NRS 527-260-527.030, which authorize protection of selected plant species declared to be in danger of extinction.

Nevada Administrative Code chapter 527, Protection and Preservation of Timbered Lands, Trees and Flora. NAC 527.010 lists the species of plants placed on the Nevada Division of Forestry's list of fully protected species under NRS 527. NAC 527.200 enumerates the duties and responsibilities of the Nevada Natural Heritage Program with respect to NRS 527.

Nevada Revised Statutes chapter 555, Control of Insects, Pests, and Noxious Weeds. NRS chapter 555 includes the laws by which noxious weeds and other pests are designated and regulated by the Nevada Department of Agriculture.

Nevada Administrative Code chapter 555, Control of Insects, Pests, and Noxious Weeds. NAC 555.010 gives the current noxious weed list for the State of Nevada. See also the list on the Nevada Weed Action Committee web site.

NDEP/BLM/USFS Nevada Guidelines for Successful Revegetation adopted jointly by the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, the Bureau of Land Management, and the U.S. Forest Service. See also the State of Nevada Guidelines for Revegetation. These are guidelines only, without force of law.
