RARE TAXA DEPENDENT UPON AQUATIC OR WETLAND HABITATS
As of the date above, the following 227 at-risk animals and plants (Tracking = Y) and watch-list plants and animals (Tracking = W) depend on aquatic or wetland habitats in Nevada for their survival. This means either that they are found only in such habitats or that they depend on such habitats for a portion of their life cycle (Wetland = Y or Yes), or that the habitats on which they depend exist only because of close proximity to, or other influence from, aquatic or wetland habitats (Wetland = M or Marginal). These last can include, for example, dry meadow margins, the shade of riparian vegetation, soils derived from parent material created by spring outflows, or the shore zones of lakes or ponds. As used here, wetland habitats are those dominated by hydric vegetation and with at least seasonally saturated soils. We welcome documentation for taxa that should be added to or removed from this list. Older editions of this list remain available on-line.
Further information is available on-line for these taxa in our Detailed Rare Plant and Lichen List and Detailed Rare Animal List, and for some taxa in other lists or reports, or as maps or images. The Nevada Rare Plant Atlas provides more comprehensive information, including habitat, life-history, description, threats, survey status, literature sources, and known locations, for many plant taxa. General information is available for nearly all taxa on the NatureServe Explorer web site. This list may be printed from your browser on letter-size paper in portrait format with 0.7-inch side margins. Click on the heading at the top of a column for an explanation of that column.
