Data and Resources

The Nevada Division of Natural Heritage collects and maintains data on plants, animals, invertebrates, wetlands, and other sensitive ecological resources in Nevada according to Natural Heritage Methodology developed for use by the NatureServe Network. The primary repository for this information is our database, Biotics and the many digital and paper files supporting it. We can provide data on species and ecosystems in a variety of formats including spreadsheets, ESRI shapefiles or file geodatabases, or PDF reports on individual species.

For those looking for general information, networking connections, or advice about rare species or ecosystems, our staff are resources, too! Use the information in our Contact Us and Staff pages to connect with professional biologists knowledgeable in botany, vertebrate and invertebrate zoology, aquatic biology, and the state wetland program. As a central link in the ecosystem of conservation professionals and agencies in Nevada, we are pleased to offer information to support prioritization of management resources, species status assessments, and research proposals related to biodiversity, and to assist you in identifying the best person or agency to help with your natural heritage needs.
